Blue Mink Syrian Hamster

Blue minkThe Blue Mink occurred in some time after 1975. The coat of the Blue Mink is brown with a purple tint over the back, sides and belly can range in shade. The roots of the hairs are cream and there are cream rings around the eyes. The Blue Mink has a white chin stripe and may also have a patch of white on the belly and/or chest. The eyes are red and the ears are flesh coloured. As the Blue Mink matures the coat begins to lighten and may lose some of the purple tint. The eyes also become darker red with maturity.

The Blue Mink can be combined with any coat type, and pattern to produce varieties such as Long Haired Blue Mink, Blue Mink Banded, etc.

Due to the Dark Grey gene present Blue Minks can be prone to spinal deformities which show in the form of a kinked or curled tail. Any Blue Minks showing this deformity should not be bred from as it is inherited.
