The normal colouring of the Chinese Hamster is dark chestnut brown on the back, with dark grey roots. There is a black stripe running from between the ears down the spine and continuing down the tail. The belly is ivory with grey at the roots of the hairs. The eyes are black and the ears are dark grey.
