A hamster may develop respiratory problems due to an allergy, cold, bronchitis or pneumonia, or lung infection.

A lung infection can cause the hamster to shiver and wheeze and the hamster may also chatter its teeth and show signs of weight loss.

The hamster should be taken to a vet immediately to receive antibiotic treatment. Early treatment is vital to ensure recovery.
