The standards consist of different categories under which a hamster is judged, and against each category is allotted a total "ideal" mark. In reality a hamster never reaches the ideal mark as even when faced with what appears to be an "ideal" hamster a judge can never be sure a better one is not on the table waiting to be judged. Therefore a good mark in each category is around 75% of the total mark allowed and hamsters achieving an overall mark of over 75 are generally considered good show hamsters.
